The Ophelia Tank

This is it.  The tank that spawned my ten week get-fit plan.

Ophelia

It’s done, which is sort of appropriate, since yesterday was the end of my ten weeks for completing the tank and losing enough weight to fit into it.

Even though I accomplished my goals, I’m not overjoyed with the tank.  I think I should have done wider straps, and will probably go back and redo them.  The reason I’m less than overjoyed with the straps probably has a lot to do with the weakness in the ten week plan, which was a commitment to lose weight (and I did!  19.5 pounds!) but did not result in any kind of increase in exercise.  I do Pilates one or two times a week, but it’s clear to me, looking at this picture, that I might need a new ten week plan aimed at lifting weights and maybe even, horrors, going back to running.  Maybe after we get the last of the kids back to school, I’ll come up with a new plan.

I’m also less the overjoyed with the color. Don’t get me wrong — I love the colors, I’m just not sure I’ll wear them in fall, and I intend to wear this tank a lot, probably over a tee-shirt, this fall.  So, I’m thinking about over-dyeing the tank to get more fall tones.  The yarn is Colinette’s Giotto, a rayon ribbon yarn, so it should over-dye well.

Even with those minor disappointments, I’m tickled by the results of the ten week plan!

  1. Joyce, it looks great and so do you! Great work on the needles and the weight!
I just started working out again myself. After two nearly bedridden pregnancies I’d lost all the muscle tone in my body. I’ve been working out with ‘The Biggest Loser’ videos and seen results come SO FAST. Lots of traditional light weight training to tone up your body. It’s working great and I highly recommend it! I have the first one, but there are two now. I’ve actually gained weight, but since it’s muscle I’m not complaining. Eventually the working out will tilt the scale downwards again.

  3. Congrats! 19.5 pounds in 10 weeks!? Fantastic work. And I love the tank, the texture is fabulous.
I am working on getting back to walking/running as well. My start goal is 7-10 miles a week and I will work from there. Here’s to more outdoor exercising! (Not that I don’t love yoga, i am just looking forward to something a bit more fresh).

  4. Wow! I’m so impressed! I need to do a 10 week plan – I think I’ll start tomorrow!
The tank looks great and you could always crochet an edging on the straps if you didn’t want to totally redo them. You’re going to overdye Colinette? You’re brave!

  5. You look great Joyce! Wowza woman!!!!
    And the tank looks awesome!
I have myself realized that exercise *has* to be a regular occurrence lol . I lost weight too, but now I’m feeling like I’m a little “loose” everywhere – ha!

  6. I think you look marvelous darling! And congrats on losing 19 pounds. That’s something to shout out about.

  7. The tank top is lovely and the sticking to the 10 week plan is impressive. Congrats on both.

  8. Oooo, it looks fabulous. So do you! Congratulations on getting healthier and feeling better! I can’t wait to see how the tank looks after you dye it.

  9. don’t sell yourself short Joyce. Congrats on the ten week plan; the weight and the tank. Both fabulous accomplishments. I love the tank and agree it should see a lot of wear. You are quite the knitter!
